Video marketing for businesses: Benefits, why and how to start.

In this article, we will talk about the benefits video marketing can bring to your business and why you should be doing it. Moreover, we also give you some tips on how to get started right away.

It is no secret that video content is on the rise. It is actually becoming almost a standard marketing tool. If you are not investing in video marketing yet, chances are that you are getting behind the competition.

In this hectic world, we live in, people would rather watch a 2 minutes video to get the same information they would get in the 15 minutes it takes to read an article. Not only are they saving time, but people also absorb the information better when they consume the content in video format.

Not only do people prefer watching videos over reading text, but they are also twice as likely to share video content with their friends than any other type of content.

If these are not good enough reasons for starting to implement videos in your marketing strategy, let’s dive into why you should be creating videos and some benefits they can bring to your company.

Why video marketing?

This is an easy question to answer. According to Cisco predictions, about 80% of all consumer internet traffic will be video. Another research from HubSpot found that 54% of the customers expected video content from the brand they support. Still not convinced? An annual study from Wyzowl also states that 84% of the interviewees admitted that a video influenced their purchase decision. That’s a big chunk.

If you are not really a numbers person, maybe these statistics probably don’t mean much to you. So here is a more human approach for why you should be doing video marketing.

Videos are a powerful way to convey the message you want to your users. If done it right, they are easy to digest, entertaining, and engaging for your customer. Besides that more people prefer to consume content in a video format rather than text format.

Whether you like it or not, if you don’t get into the video content wagon, you are missing out big time in terms of traffic, conversions, and most probably ROI.

Benefits of video marketing

In the previous sections, we showed you why you should have a video content marketing strategy in place at your business. But we didn’t really touch on how you can benefit from it. So let’s dive into some of the advantages of having video content integrated into your marketing plan.

Video improves your SEO

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a powerful way to leverage traffic to your website for free. Video can help you with SEO in many different ways.

The first reason to have videos in your content is related to Google’s algorithm. When it crawls your page, Google looks not only into the text in it. It also looks for rich media content, which means that having quality visual content will boost your rankings.

Having video content in your page is also a great way to increase the time spent on page, a very important metric to SEO also. The idea here is simple. Even if you have the exact same information in form of both text and video, the later is a way more engaging form of content. While some people might just skim through your text in a matter of seconds, having an engaging video can keep their attention for minutes.

Backlinks are another very strong way to improve your SEO. A study by Moz also found that embedding a video in your page almost triples the average number of linking domains

Moreover, some Google searches show the video results on the top of the page, even before the first organic listing. Having a quality video with the right SEO can help you gain some SERP real estate like shown in the image below.

Rank on the second largest search engine - YouTube

You might not be aware of it, but YouTube is the second largest search engine out there losing only to its parent company Google. That should be no surprise, especially if we are speaking about How-to videos.

Having videos related to important keywords in your niche can bring customers to your website not only from Google but also from YouTube.

Increase the understanding of your product

In this day and age many customers expect brands to have a short video explaining what the product or service is about and even how to use it.

An annual survey done by Wyzowl on video marketing statistics reveals that, in 2020, 96% of people have watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service and two thirds of the interviewees said they would rather get to know about the product in a short video format.

Asana knew this back in 2017. Here is an example of a quite simple video that explains new users how to use the software in just around 1 minute.

Increase conversions

Who never got stuck watching many different reviews and comparison videos of similar products before making a buying decision?

I am guilty of this. Every time I want to look for a product I end up watching probably hours of product reviews or demo videos in order to check whether the product does fits my needs.

Explainer videos and customer testimonials are another great way to boost your conversion rates. Landing pages are the perfect place to show these videos. Having them on your landing page can increase conversion by as much as 80%.

Increase brand awareness and trust

Over 5 billion videos are played every day on YouTube. On Facebook the number is even higher, at 8 billion. There is no doubt that video is a great media to increase brand awareness.

However, with all the noise in social media, how do you stand out? You have to build trust and loyalty from your customer. And guess what, video can help you do that as well. Having branded videos around a specific topic can show authority in that niche. Besides that, they can also give a personality to your brand that customers can relate to.

Keep up with the competition

The numbers don’t lie. If you are not leveraging the benefits of video marketing right now, you are behind 85% of the business out there.

More than that, according to Wyzowl 86% of the people interviewed for their annual video marketing report say that they would like to see more videos from brands in 2020.

Getting Started

Ok, now you know all the benefits that video marketing can bring to your business and why you should probably be doing it. Maybe you even started to get some ideas on how to implement it into your business, but you don’t know where to start.

The truth is, you don’t need much to start. Smartphones these days have amazing cameras. For simple videos an ordinary tripod with smartphone or a screen record with a voice-over can already do wonders if done correctly. It is more about the content you deliver than its production quality.

However, upgrading your production value can also give a more professional impression to your customer.

Improving your production value

In order to step up the quality of your videos, you have mainly two options. Having a in-house video production team or outsourcing the work.

If you can afford the money and hustle to build your own video production team I would highly recommend doing so. This way you can align the whole video marketing strategy with your team and have the right talents available whenever you need them.

Outsourcing the production is also a viable option especially if you don’t plan on having a consistent schedule of video uploads. However, it can be a daunting task to find the right talents, locations and making sure they also have all the gear they need available. It can take a lot of time and research. Moreover, if you are not very familiar with the industry, picking the wrong people to work with can cause some headache.

That is why we created Beazy. So you can let us do the hard work and focus on planning your strategy and the content you want to produce. We take care of the rest.
