LOVE MACHINA | PHOTO BY PETER SILLEN

AI took Sundance by storm as AI-generated nudes of Taylor Swift became a hot topic.

Additionally, Love Machina and Eternal You, two documentaries at this year's Sundance Film Festival, showcased the potential dark side of AI when it comes to matters of the heart.

Love Machina follows the story of Marbina, a married couple who've invested heavily in AI to make their love immortal.
Meanwhile, Eternal You explores how different people use AI to cope with the loss of loved ones.

Both films raise ethical questions about AI's role in relationships and grieving.

However, the films themselves didn't seem to offer many groundbreaking answers, leaving some to wonder if the documentaries missed an opportunity to truly delve into the complexities of AI and human emotion.

Many said that the documentaries raised more questions than they answered, but also failed to dive deep enough and offer new perspectives.

Are we talking about AI just to talk about AI?

Did Sundance miss the mark on AI and love?

PRODUCTION MASTERY

The Creator’s Lab by Cam Kirk

Atlanta-based photographer Cam Kirk, known for his work with hip-hop artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Luh Tyler, is building a creative empire.

On top of his commercial shoots for brands like Coca-Cola and Nike, he runs The Collective Gallery, a talent agency for photographers, and Cam Kirk Studios, a bustling photography hub.

He’s also launched CKS, a content streaming network, and teamed up with Billionaire Boys Club to open The Creator’s Lab—an ATL community space.

Knowing how tough it can be to break into photography, Kirk’s been mentoring up-and-comers at Night School, a free workshop series that’s minted photographers for big players like the White House and Nike.

He’s an extreme example of how far photography can take you, with some hustle and creativity. Who said there wasn’t any money in photography?

Self-promotion and self-interest are always counterproductive... individuals and communities should really try to step outside of themselves and their personal interests, and genuinely look at how they can aid in improving the lives of others.” - Justin French

CREATOR ECONOMY

When is a rebrand, not a rebrand? Uber unveils a new brand architecture, keeping its iconic logo but consolidating its various services under a unified look.

The move reflects Uber's goal to be more than just a ride-hailing app, with ventures in food delivery, freight, and more.

Design agency JKR worked to create a flexible system that could adapt to Uber's expanding portfolio while maintaining recognition.

The updated branding allows for creative expression in different sectors while staying true to Uber's black-and-white roots.

It's a strategic play to make the brand synonymous with mobility, wherever you're going or whatever you need.
