VISUAL CREATORS

© Daniel Murray, United Kingdom, Shortlist, Youth Competition, Sony World Photography Awards 2024

The World Photography Organization just dropped the shortlist for their Student and Youth Photographer of the Year awards, and it's pure eye candy.

Students ran with the prompt "Home", showcasing everything from cozy corners to cultural symbolism.

Meanwhile, the youth category, open to all young shutterbugs, delivered a visual buffet with landscapes, close-ups, and even a starry night or two.

Winners won't be revealed 'til April 18th, but you can already peep the pics now.

Peeps, which photography category steals your focus?

PRODUCTION MASTERY

For the layman: HDR makes colors and lighting on screens look way more real.

But here’s the thing: To use this AI, you need one of Nvidia’s fancy graphics cards called an RTX, which can cost a pretty penny and go up to $2,500.

The company’s been betting big on AI helping boost video quality and frame rates. And this whole HDR thing is a peek into what future consumer tech might look like.

For now, though, your boring non-HDR TV can’t join the party.

Is HDR worth the high cost?

CREATOR ECONOMY

Reddit is adjusting its expectations for its upcoming IPO.

Originally hoping for a $15B valuation, the company is now looking at offers in the lower billions. Although not surprising given market conditions, the drop is significant.

Last year, Reddit was valued at $10B after a funding round.

With 70M daily active users, the site has seen steady growth, but it’s unclear how much headroom is available as it looks to get more serious about ads.

Will Reddit's lowered IPO expectations impact its future?
