Instagram's long-standing policy of censoring women's nipples is stunting artistic expression and perpetuating gender inequality in the art world.

Female artists who feature their own unclothed bodies in their work are often met with removal notices, a consequence of what photographers and artists refer to as “prudish” guidelines.

Over the years, photographers have been especially affected by the censorship, with many feeling they have to limit their creativity or halt certain projects altogether.

The issue extends beyond Instagram, too. As lawmakers pass legislation that makes platforms watchdogs for illicit content, the risk of art censorship off the platform grows.

The chilling effect of these laws is a clear and present danger to the vibrant, diverse art that has found solace, support, and sharing on social media.

Could a more collaborative, artist-inclusive approach to platform regulation be the answer?

OpenAI is locked in a legal brawl with The New York Times over the use of copyrighted content.

Authors like John Grisham and George R.R. Martin previously sued OpenAI for alleged “systematic theft”.

As we’ve noted, OpenAI is courting publishers with partnerships while arguing it has already acted legally concerning copyright laws.

 CREATOR ECONOMY

Elon Musk just promised better pay for creators on X.

No, he didn't mention MrBeast, but it's hard not to connect the dots after MrBeast dissed X for low pay.

Just two weeks ago, MrBeast told Musk that even if his videos on X got a billion views, it wouldn't come close to covering the millions they cost to make.

Musk had been trying to woo top talent to X for a while now, but creators like KSI and MrBeast have been skeptical, citing the higher payouts they get on YouTube.

It's a tough market to crack, and Musk is playing catch-up. Still, he's not one to back down, and this latest move is his creator-compensation Hail Mary.

Is Elon Musk's creator pay promise on X a game-changer?
