VISUAL CREATORS

Apple has rolled out updates to its renowned video editing software, Final Cut Pro, for both iPads and Macs.

The new iPad version now supports voice-over recordings, which is a big deal for creators who wanted an all-in-one editing solution. It also squeezes a bit more performance out of the powerful M-series chips found in the latest iPads.

The Mac update brings a much-requested scrolling timeline and smoother tracking tech.

Both versions now export projects faster by splitting the work across multiple processing cores.

Could these changes be enough to keep Apple in the editing game against the likes of Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve? Could this be the start of a more unified iPad and Mac app ecosystem?

Will the new Final Cut Pro updates make you switch to iPad editing?

 PRODUCTION MASTERY

AI-generated videos are inching closer to prime time. Meta (formerly Facebook) introduced Emu Video, which creates short clips from captions or photos.

One minute, they don't exist. Then, pow: a street scene in Tokyo turns into an anime explosion.

The tech’s not flawless: Sometimes a dog runs across a grassy knoll like it’s on a trampoline. But the potential is clear.

Already, Netflix is using AI to generate anime backgrounds, leaving real artists without gigs. And with AI that removes a need for actors (Deep Nostalgia, anyone?), could "Laboratory-Generated Possible Dreamscapes" be an Oscar contender?
